I see it as “just because you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it cannot be”. Science cannot prove everything. However there are several ways scholars have proven the authenticity of the bible and that it is true. For example all the prophecies turning out exactly, in exact sequence too. All the historical evidence of the happenings. Archeological evidence, such as the bible had written about the ancient city of Tyre, which was buried, and it stated how it will never be found again, and although archeologists know it exists, they cannot uncover it because there are other ruins on top of those ruins which they don’t want to move because they don’t want to ruin those ruins. As well as how the world functions is proof. Also the discrediting of theories such as evolution doesn’t work, such as the “lightswitch” theory of how because the eye is so complex that it had to evolve all the sudden! (a weak argument to support evolution that, evolutionist are so attached to their theory “having” to be correct that they make up a crazy one to explain something that just doesn’t fit with the rest of their theory! whereas creation actually makes sense and it matches up to fact and reality. the way the wise sayings are always classic and work. The way the Israelites were taught things by God that made them survive that they wouldn’t have known scientifically, such as silver lined water containers (killing bacteria), their law that they had to bathe (where other people didn’t know and died from diseases because of it) I think that people don’t delve very far into allowing the proof of God to be told to them, or they have talked to people who don’t know how to prove his existence, and they give up instead of really looking into it to see if anyone else would know how to, so they stay with their ignorance because they aren’t interested enough, or too afraid to find out they are wrong. but there are SO MANY examples that prove that the bible is correct, another book bigger than the bible couldn’t hold all of it. But still, people don’t want to believe it. This is because, I’ve proven that you can’t prove something “to” a person. You could have all the information layed out logically, you could have everything from the bigger picture down to the extreme details proven, you could sound really compelling, but really what it is is people believe what they “want” to believe. So you can’t prove to an Atheist there is a God, because the motive behind not wanting to believe in a God is so that he doesn’t have to answer to or be responsible to anyone. He also doesn’t want to admit that God is higher. He’s happier to believe science fiction or aliens because in the end of the day he knows those are just stories that have zero proof. He wants his ego intact, and he wants to take credit for his ideas even if he arrives at the same conclusions that the men in the bible taught, even though he arrives at the same thing much MUCH later, and he wants to think he is a free thinker and so, really he is just rebelling if he doesn’t have an open mind. He doesn’t sit quiet when you go about proving the questions and answering all his objections, but he stops you midway all the time adds more questions so that one question can never be fully answered, trying to overwhelm you to stop you from finishing (diverting you). and those are the usual experiences Christians have with humanists and Atheists. They don’t listen to anything but think they know. They think they are smart but they don’t take in “all” the information. whereas I know several Christians who have studied evolution intensely and openly, as well as all the other religions with a fine toothed comb and still find that the bible holds more true than all of it. They use intense critical thinking, and even dare to question their own beliefs in DEPTH, and be ready to accept anything that is weak, or wrong.

O’Reilly shows the ignorance and distrust of science among right-wingers. It did not even occur to him that science might have something to say about tides. It would be only slightly worse if he asserted that science knows nothing about why there are seasons.

Great article. The sad part is that people assume that clowns like Bill O’reilly are telling the truth just because they are on a “News” network. I think by the time you graduate High School you should have taken a class called “Critical Thinking”.
